The 16-Hour SST Supervisor Refresh Bundle is designed for supervisors and other competent persons working on New York City construction sites who need to renew their SST Supervisor Card (SST62). This refresher course ensures that individuals stay up to date with the latest safety regulations and protocols as required by the NYC Department of Buildings (DOB). The training aims to reinforce safety standards, hazard prevention, and compliance with both OSHA and local regulations.

Course Objectives:

  • Renew SST62 Card: Ensure participants maintain their qualification to serve as supervisors on NYC construction sites.

  • Update Safety Knowledge: Provide a refresher on key safety practices, helping supervisors stay informed about the latest safety regulations and site management techniques.

  • Mitigate Jobsite Hazards: Reinforce hazard identification skills and ensure supervisors know how to implement effective safety controls.

  • Enhance Compliance: Ensure that site supervisors remain compliant with NYC DOB Chapter 33 and OSHA standards, maintaining safe construction environments.
     

Course Content Breakdown:

  • 8-Hour Fall Prevention:

    • A comprehensive review of fall prevention practices, including the use of personal fall arrest systems, guardrails, and safety nets.

    • Discussion on common fall hazards such as unprotected edges, scaffold use, and improper ladder safety.

    • Updates on recent fall protection standards and methods for reducing falls on construction sites.

  • 2-Hour Drug & Alcohol Awareness:

    • A refresher on the impact of substance use in the workplace and the importance of maintaining a drug-free jobsite.

    • Best practices for identifying and handling drug and alcohol-related issues among workers.

  • 4-Hour Supported Scaffold User and Refresher:

    • A review of scaffold safety practices, focusing on the proper setup, maintenance, and use of supported scaffolding.

    • Instruction on conducting safety inspections and ensuring that scaffolds meet NYC DOB and OSHA safety requirements.

  • 2-Hour Pre-Task Safety Meeting:

    • Training on conducting effective pre-task safety meetings to communicate hazards, safety expectations, and precautions before beginning daily tasks.

    • Encouraging supervisors to engage workers in these meetings to ensure everyone understands jobsite risks and safety protocols.

  • 2-Hour Toolbox Talks:

    • How to lead regular toolbox talks to keep the workforce informed about ongoing safety concerns and best practices.

    • Practical tips on engaging workers during these short safety meetings to ensure consistent safety messaging.

  • 2-Hour Site Safety Plan (SSP):

    • A refresher on developing and implementing a site safety plan in compliance with Chapter 33 of the NYC Building Code.

    • Techniques for identifying risks, outlining safety procedures, and maintaining safety documentation on construction sites.

  • 1-Hour Tools – Hand and Power:

    • A review of safety practices for using hand and power tools on construction sites, ensuring that tools are operated safely and maintained properly.

    • Recognizing and preventing hazards associated with tool use.

  • 1-Hour Electrocution Prevention:

    • Training on recognizing and mitigating electrical hazards, with a focus on safe practices when working near live electrical systems.

    • Best practices for preventing electrocution and ensuring the proper use of electrical safety equipment.

  • 1-Hour Confined Space Entry:

    • A refresher on working in confined spaces, with a focus on ventilation, hazard monitoring, and rescue procedures.

    • Techniques for safely entering and working within confined spaces in compliance with OSHA regulations.

  • 1-Hour Excavation Safety:

    • A review of safety protocols when working with excavations and trenches, including the use of protective systems and ensuring the stability of excavation sites.

    • Recognizing the hazards associated with trench collapses and ensuring safe practices during excavation work.

  • 8-Hour Site Safety:

    • A comprehensive review of overall site safety management, focusing on hazard identification, risk mitigation, and ensuring compliance with NYC and OSHA safety standards.

    • Developing strategies to maintain a safe and compliant construction environment.

  • Construction Supervisors: Individuals overseeing day-to-day construction activities on NYC job sites who need to renew their SST62 card.

Certification:

Upon successful completion of the 16-Hour SST Supervisor Refresh Bundle, participants will receive a renewed SST Supervisor Card (SST62), valid for 5 years. This card certifies that the holder is qualified to continue supervising NYC construction sites in compliance with OSHA and NYC DOB requirements.

 
Attendance Policy: 
Students are required to complete 100% of the course and actively participate in all learning activities. Make-up time is not permitted for this training course.
